  • Stop using Aspirin (including medications containing Aspirin) to prevent blood thinning and excessive bleeding.
  • A list of medicines and herbal supplements has to be avoided prior to your procedure.
  • Quit smoking and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks before and after surgery as nicotine can impair circulation and healing.
Procedure

There are two techniques used for Buttock Augmentation surgery - buttocks implants and fat transfer to the buttocks. The decision regarding which type of implant will be used will be taken by the surgeon. The implant is either round or oval, the so-called "anatomic" implant. The implant procedure can be combined with liposuction of the upper outer part of the buttock to improve the appearance. Buttock Augmentation surgery is an outpatient procedure takes about an hour to perform (with liposuction, it may take an additional half hour). A vertical incision is made in a hidden center buttock crease, the sacrum. The muscle is incised and a pocket is created for the implant within the muscle. The implants are inserted into the pockets. The midline incision is then closed in layers. If Liposuction is going to be done, it has to be performed through separate incisions.

In case of Butt Implants, an incision is cut low on the buttock where the crease meets the thigh and then the butt implant is then inserted. The final step is to close the incision. With Fat Transfer, fat can be taken from one part of the body and injected into the buttocks with a syringe.

Post Procedure Advice

After the surgery, there could be some bruising, swelling and pain. Pain, swelling and numbness are normal and should subside within the first few days. Painkillers are prescribed to control discomfort. You should be up and walking around within a day. There will be fluid draining for the first few days. In order to take direct pressure off the buttocks, avoid sitting on your bottom as much as possible and sleep on your abdomen or sides. Resume normal activities after the first week. A special compression garment will need to be worn for up to a month. Following the surgery, you may return to work within a few days. Strenuous activities, including exercise, should be avoided for about two months. Scarring should be hidden in the crease beneath the buttocks and they should fade over time. Typically, final results of buttocks enhancement are seen after several weeks.
